OEM-style Android upgrade - Lancia and Chrysler Ypsilon

Lancia and Chrysler Ypsilon 2011-2020: a 7-Inch Screen That Keeps Your Dashboard (TFS8787)

Your Ypsilon left the factory with a radio, not a screen. The TFS8787 puts a 7-inch Android 15 unit into that same aperture, and it keeps the moulded fascia, the two rotary knobs and the button column exactly where they sit today. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are part of the package on the builds we list below.

Fitment and model years

This is the part that decides whether the job goes smoothly, so let's get it right first. The 8787 fascia is moulded for the Lancia Ypsilon and Chrysler Ypsilon 2011-2020 dashboard, where the factory radio sits low in the centre console with the small storage slot above it. Our product page carries a fitment note: three dashboard layouts are marked as a match and two are marked as a mismatch.

Look at that picture before you order, then send us your model year and the VIN, because two Ypsilons from the same year can leave the line with different centre consoles depending on trim level and market.

Before and after

The original head unit in these cars is a CD radio. It has a compact display, a row of buttons on either side, and it plays radio and CDs. That's the whole list. You can't mirror your phone onto it, and you can't run a navigation app either. Ever tried following a route on a display the size of a business card while your phone slides off the passenger seat at the first roundabout? It's awkward, and it's genuinely annoying first thing in the morning.

Drop the 8787 in and the same aperture holds a 7-inch 1280x720 IPS touchscreen. Because the fascia follows the original moulding, the dashboard keeps its factory line, and the rotary knobs and the button column stay in place. The shot below is from our own install, not a render.

How the TFS8787 compares

There are three honest routes here, and the gaps show up fast once you price the extra parts. Keeping the factory radio costs nothing and does nothing new. A marketplace universal double-DIN often needs a dash kit, a cage and some trimming behind the fascia. And here's the part a marketplace listing never mentions: even a fascia that drops straight in is joining a conversation with whatever your trim level left behind in the dash, and that conversation is far easier to have with us than with a returns label.

Key features

Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto

Pair your phone once and it reconnects on its own when you get in. No cable across the console.

7-inch 1280x720 IPS panel

Wide viewing angles and a genuinely sharp map, which matters more than the headline size suggests.

Front Type-C charging port

A charge port sits in the fascia below the right knob, so your phone keeps charging while CarPlay runs.

The hardware is worth a closer look, because these are the bits you'll live with day to day. The knobs still have their chrome rings, the BAND and DIM keys work the way they always did, and the moulding keeps the same trim strip across the top as the factory part. If you want DSP for tuning, I'd fit the TC. If memory and a faster processor matter more than 4G to you, I'd take the TFS and stop there. Which of those is closer to how you actually use the car?

Build levels: what each version adds

People ask us this constantly, so here's the short version. The fascia and the 7-inch 1280x720 IPS screen are the same across the family. What changes is the processor, the memory, the networking and the audio hardware, and that's what you're paying for as you move up.

Optional add-ons and vehicle-dependent functions

The 8787 family supports a set of plug-in accessories: a rear camera, a front DVR camera, TPMS sensors, a DAB+ antenna, and an ELM327 OBD2 scanner for engine data on screen. DSP is built in on the TC and TVS builds and isn't present on TBR and TVR, so that's your deciding line for tuning.

What a matching connector does not cover

A matching connector gets your power, ground and speakers talking. It says nothing about a factory amplifier, the steering wheel buttons, the antenna feed or a proprietary bus in your particular car. Those depend on trim level. Tell us what your Ypsilon has, and we'll confirm the loom and any interface box in the same message.

If you need the installation guide, a wiring reference or a loom check, send us your model year and a photo of your console. We answer in English, Russian, Spanish and Italian. Not sure which build suits your car? Ask us, and we'll point you at one.

Frequently asked questions

01Which Ypsilon dashboard does this fascia match?

It's built for Lancia Ypsilon and Chrysler Ypsilon 2011-2020 with the factory radio low in the console. Our product page marks three dash layouts as a match and two as a mismatch.

02Do the factory knobs and buttons still work?

Yes. The rotary knobs and the key column are part of the new fascia, and the BAND, DIM, HOME and MUSIC keys keep their original functions.

03Is CarPlay wired or wireless on this unit?

Wireless, and Android Auto is wireless too. Your phone reconnects by itself once it's paired, so you're not digging for a cable at every stop.

04How much memory do I get?

It depends on the build. TBR is 2G + 32G, TVR and TVS are 4G + 64G, TFS is 6G + 128G, and TC is 4G + 32G. Ask and we'll match one to your driving.

05Will my steering wheel controls carry over?

That depends on the trim, so we confirm it before shipping. Send us your model year and VIN and we'll tell you what the loom needs.

06What can I add later?

A rear camera, a front DVR camera, TPMS sensors, a DAB+ antenna and an ELM327 OBD2 scanner. They plug in, so nothing comes back out.

07What if it doesn't match my car?

Check the fitment note, then send us a photo of your centre console.
